Hemant Patel qualified as a dentist in 1991 from the University of Liverpool. After a period of vocational training in general dental practice and various hospital posts he commenced specialist training at the University of Manchester. He obtained his certificate of specialist training and the membership in orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Since February 2008, Hemant has been Senior Lecturer in Orthodontics at the University of Central Lancashire, as well as Course Leader in MSc Orthodontics and Orthodontic Therapy.

Hemant is registered as a Specialist Orthodontist with the General Dental Council. He is a member of the Specialist Practitioner Group of the British Orthodontic Society, and a fellow of the World Federation of Orthodontists.

Dr. Patel is the principal of the Ormskirk, Wigan, Blackburn and Liverpool Orthodontic Centres.

Andrew Hunter qualified in 2000 from Liverpool University. After a stint in General Practice, he took a hospital post which included surgery and orthodontics; Dr Hunter has been in orthodontics for 7 years now and wonders where the time went! He spends his clinical time between the Ormskirk and Liverpool Centres (but sometimes makes guest appearances at Blackburn and Wigan!) and loves the happy, positive atmosphere at both places. Of course, the main reason he does what he does is to make people smile. A keen football fan, Dr Hunter likes watching sport in his free time, as well as going to the cinema and swimming.

Favourite film: “The Shawshank Redemption.”
 
Earliest memory: “Getting stuck on a sand bank in New Brighton with my Grandad.”

Claire Potter Orthodontic Nurse

As an orthodontic nurse, Claire is an important member of our team here at Liverpool. She grew up wanting to be a nurse and has now been doing it for 8 years. Claire loves working as part of the team as well as helping patients through their treatment with us. Her favourite way to spend free time is by socialising with friends, shopping and generally chilling out at home.

Alicja Wilk Orthodontic Nurse

With 9 years experience as a dental nurse and a passion for helping patients through their treatment, Alicja is a valued member of our team here at Liverpool who particularly loves working with children. She enjoys spending time outside work cooking and going to the cinema and recently took up jogging in the park.

Earliest memory: “Crying at kindergarten because I had to wear trousers and I wanted to wear a dress!”

Lisa had been nursing in General Practice for 11 years before deciding to move into orthodontics. A qualified orthodontic nurse, Lisa loves working with our younger patients and seeing the difference a course of treatment can make. Lisa is an excellent team member and loves socialising with friends and colleagues alike, as well as enjoying meals out in her free time.

As Ortho 2008’s business manager, Linda is the indispensable go-to lady for everything and anything to do with the day to day running of our practices. With an impressive twenty four years of experience clocked up in the dental field, it’s easy to see why. She loves all aspects of her role, especially the fact that she never gets a chance to get bored! When she’s not busy at work, Linda enjoys spending time with her family, relaxing on holiday and getting some well-earned sleep. Linda spends most of her working time at our Wigan practice but you may also find her keeping things ticking over at Ormskirk, Blackburn and Liverpool.

Favourite book: “A holiday brochure.” (Enjoy with a sangria and it’s almost the real thing!)

Louise has covered a range of roles in orthodontics, from receptionist to practice manager, but this one suits her best. She ensures our website is kept up to date, accurate and interesting as well as overseeing our patients’ experiences with us. She’s always looking for new and innovative ways to move the practices forward and loves spending time with all four enthusiastic and highly skilled teams. When she’s not working, Louise likes to relax watching films, reading and playing on the Wii dancemat!

Danielle Woods Receptionist

The most recent addition to our team, Danielle runs our reception in a friendly and efficient manner. With plenty of customer service experience, she is perfect for the role. She loves getting know patients as they come in to see us throughout their treatment as well as meeting new people each day. In her free time, Danielle likes to visit the gym,watch movies and shop!

Earliest memory: “When my baby brother, Thomas, was born. He was so cute!”

 

Laura Owen Treatment Coordinator

Laura is the first point of contact for private patients who are considering having treatment. Her friendly, patient and informative approach is perfectly tailored to help potential new patients when booking their first consultation. She loves getting to know patients before sending them off on the road to a brand new smile. With a background in orthodontic nursing and experience of actually wearing braces herself, Laura is well-equipped to answer any queries you may have. When not working, Laura enjoys nothing more than a lazy weekend spent with her family, including her beloved cat, Chandler Bing (really). Based at Liverpool, Laura is just a phone call away from all four of our practices’ patients.
